Evergreen Films unveils 3D Dinos at AFM

Live action dinosaur feature to be shot in Alaska

(Anchorage, AK)  Alaska-based Evergreen Films revealed the first results of its advanced 3D technology last week at the American Film Market (AFM) in Santa Monica, California.  Hundreds of attendees were treated to the sight of photo-realistic 3D dinosaurs immersed in live action 3D environments.  Viewers were amazed to be truly “Walking with Dinosaurs.”

BBC Worldwide and Evergreen Films announced in June they were forming a partnership to produce the $65 million feature film “WALKING WITH DINOSAURS 3D. ” BBC Earth and Evergreen Films are also partnering on the production of the $25 million feature film “AFRICA 3D”.

At AFM this week it was announced that global distribution for both films will be handled by indie sales and financing powerhouse IM GLOBAL. IM GLOBAL had a dominant presence at AFM this year, including hosting public and private showings of a three minute demo piece for “WALKING WITH DINOSAURS 3D” that was produced by Evergreen Films and BBC Earth.

Evergreen Films is using advanced 3D camera systems, groundbreaking LIDAR scanning technology, photo-real 3D CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) and an integrated 3D post production workflow to produce “WALKING WITH DINOSAURS 3D.”  According to Evergreen’s Pierre de Lespinois, “Evergreen has invested $10 million plus over the last three years to develop and build cutting-edge 3D production studios in Anchorage and L.A.”  Pierre is co-directing “WALKING WITH DINOSAURS 3D” with BBC Earth’s Neil Nightingale.

“The pieces are now in place to bring this awesome event to the big screen,” said Amanda Hill, Commercial Director for BBC Earth. “We are excited to be part of this exceptional team and look forward to taking our audience on a prehistoric journey that will inspire and amaze.”

Twentieth Century Fox has acquired distribution rights for the U.S. and for most major international territories to WALKING WITH DINOSAURS 3D.

Evergreen Films said much of the live action filming for the 3D dinosaur film will occur in Alaska to a take advantage of the state’s film incentives. Evergreen recently partnered with NANA Development Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation based in Anchorage.
