Title Wave Books Returns to Its Roots as a Used Bookstore
ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Nov. 9, 2009 - Title Wave Books has nearly completed a full-scale remodel on its flagship store in the Northern Lights Shopping Center.
Co-owners and founders Steve Lloyd and Julie Drake have redesigned Title Wave to be a more customer-friendly used bookstore by creating a new store layout, building new shelves and counters, lowering prices and changing the product mix to be focused almost exclusively on used books, CDs, DVDs, as well as bargain books, calendars, cards and journals.
Title Wave Books is a cornerstone in the vibrant community of Spenard, an area of Anchorage known for its eclectic blend of mostly locally-owned, independent and hip retail stores and restaurants. Title Wave's Julie Drake said, "We are happy to return to our roots as a used bookstore, our core business for nearly 19 years. Retailing in general and book retailing specifically have changed more in those years than in all of history. We welcome the challenge of remaining a vital force in Alaska's bookselling community."
Steve Lloyd did much of the work himself, and hired several local independent contractors for the remodel, which is expected to be finished for the busy holiday season. Contractors include Neilson Construction, 8 Stars Construction, Mad City Flooring, ARC Electric, and Northern Datacomm.
