New Public Use Cabin Available to Rent at Quartz Lake
November 25, 2009
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, Northern Area Office is happy to announce the new Public Use Cabin at Quartz Lake is now available to rent. The cabin can be rented for public use Sept. 1st through May 15th. From May 16th until the end of August this cabin is used by the volunteer at Quartz Lake.
This new cabin is approximately 20’ x 24’ and replaces the old, 12’ x 16’ structure that was used for over twenty years. The new cabin can accommodate up to six people and boasts a beautiful view of the lake out the front window and a small front deck. It has a large wood stove to warm after a day of ice fishing! However, the cabin is not stocked with firewood, so please plan ahead and bring your own.
The cabin rents for $35 per night during weekends and holidays (peak), or $25 per night otherwise (non-peak). You can make reservations on-line on the Park’s web site at: www.alaskastateparks.org. Reservations can also be made in person at either the Fairbanks (3700 Airport Way) or Anchorage (550 W 7th Ave., Suite 1260) Public Information Centers (PIC). For additional information on this cabin or any of the 50+ public use cabins operated by Alaska State Parks, call the Fairbanks PIC at 451-2705 or the Anchorage office at 269-8400 Monday thru Friday 10 AM-5PM.
Funding for this cabin was made available through a partnership between the Big Delta State Historical Park concessionaire and Alaska State Parks. We are fortunate to have this partnership and pleased that it has provided the opportunity to update the old public use cabin.
