Central Council of Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Tlingit & Haida) is pleased to announce Sarah Dybdahl as the Tribe’s new Cultural Heritage & Education Manager. In this position, Sarah will oversee the coordination of Tlingit & Haida’s cultural activities and develop cultural programs in collaboration with tribes and other Native entities.
The Alutiiq Museum has promoted Rebecca Pruitt to the position of Gallery Coordinator. Pruitt will oversee the daily operations of the Alutiiq Museum Store, assist artists and visitors, develop store merchandise, and host museum events, beginning July 25th. Pruitt is the daughter of Denise Malutin and Chad Pruitt, and a 2012 graduate of Kodiak High School. She began work at the Alutiiq Museum in 2014, and has contributed to everything from collections care and educational outreach to language programming and the museum store.
Ahtna, Incorporated (Ahtna) and the State of Alaska announced today that they have reached agreement on a proposed settlement regarding lands along Klutina Lake Road and near the Historic Gulkana Village off the Richardson Highway. The parties have worked for the past five months to settle on the details of a proposed agreement. The agreement would resolve a legal dispute that dates back to 2007 regarding property interests and use of Klutina Lake Road. The settlement would also resolve long-standing impacts to the Gulkana historic cemetery and townsite.
Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska’s (Tlingit & Haida) Tribal Child Support Unit (TCSU) Manager Jessie Archibald has been appointed by Alaska Supreme Court Chief Justice Craig Stowers to serve a four-year term as an attorney member for the Alaska Bar Association’s Area Discipline Committee.
Central Council of Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribe of Alaska’s (Tlingit & Haida) Tribal Transportation Manager Will Ware has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Governor’s Tribal Advisory Council to fill the transportation seat. The council was established by Alaska Governor Bill Walker in 2015 and consists of 11 members who represent tribal interest in the areas of wildlife and fisheries, transportation, housing, subsistence, public safety, justice, language and culture, economic development, energy and natural resources, healthcare, and education. Members are appointed by the Governor to identify areas of concern, opportunities for collaboration and suggest policy, programs and other means and methods to address matters affecting the State and tribes.
