GCI today announced it has built a new wireless tower near Coldfoot, Alaska, which brings the first voice and high-speed data service to Dalton Highway traffic.
Today, Alaska’s largest telecom company GCI announced the launch of 4G LTE wireless service in Kincaid Park through a brand new, hidden cell tower. Disguised as a spruce tree, it fits in seamlessly among the park’s 14,000-acre landscape. The long-awaited wireless service will make necessary park safety improvements and connectivity possible for park goers and the community. It is one of only three “stealth” towers in Anchorage.
Helping to instill respect for the Alaska wilderness in the next generation of leaders, GCI made a $12,500 donation to the National Student Conservation Association this summer. The funds will be used to support the organization’s dedication to maintaining Alaska’s wild lands and the vast resources the state has to offer.
