Foss Maritime Joins FEMA's Response and Relief Operations in Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands

Foss Maritime Company announced today that it has contracted with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support the relief and rebuilding efforts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria.

LTI, Inc./Milky Way drivers are rolling down the road in new tractors this fall, the result of a large-scale major equipment acquisition. According to Dave Seaman, Director of Equipment and Maintenance, LTI invested in new power units this year which replaced some of the high-mileage tractors. "The new equipment is allowing us to lower our operating cost by LTI new equipment - Gene Stahl.jpgreducing maintenance and improving fuel economy while maintaining payload," he explains. "The new units also provide a much better driving experience for our employees." LTI, Inc. has purchased 74 2018 Kenworth T680 tractors, the same tractor that Lynden Transport Driver John Schank drove across the country to deliver the Capitol Christmas Tree in 2015.

In a highly competitive bid process, the U.S. Army has chosen the Vigor design for its new generation of landing craft. The contract represents the largest award in Vigor’s history with a total value of $979,390,000 over a ten year period and will provide sustained full time employment for roughly 200 skilled artisans.

Fugro Wins Highway Data Collection Contract For The State of Alaska

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) has awarded Fugro the initial phase of a potential multi-year contract to collect, process and deliver a wide range of digital roadway data for public roads across Alaska. Under this contract, Fugro will also implement a suite of roadway data applications that will feed into the Department’s existing business systems to foster informed decision- making and support state and federally mandated transportation programmes, such as the Highway Performance Monitoring System.

​Congratulations are in order for many Lynden drivers who competed in truck driving competitions in Alaska and Washington this spring. At the Alaska Trucking Association’s (ATA) annual truck rodeo in Anchorage, Alaska West Express Driver Brian Ambrose was named overall champion for the second year followed by Eddie Tuia in second place. Eddie also took first place for Alaska West Express in the 5-axle van category with Doug Longerbone of Lynden Transport taking second place.

EasyPark’s “Forget the Fine”, a unique event that offered community members the opportunity to donate food in exchange for credit towards their outstanding parking violations, collected $20,000 of food donations to benefit the Food Bank of Alaska.
