Conventions, conferences, meetings and events held in the Golden Heart of Alaska bring attendees, participants and spectators to the community that positively impact the local economy. The Estimated Direct Attendee Spending (EDAS) is a nationally-accepted economic impact calculation of meetings based on the factors of number of out-of-town meeting attendees, number of nights in a local lodging facility and an average expenditure rate. The calculation does not include economic-model multipliers.

Alaska Air Cargo introduces world's first converted 737-700 freighter

Alaska Air Cargo today began a new chapter in its business, introducing the first converted Boeing 737-700 cargo aircraft. The aircraft is the first of its kind in the world and was converted from an all-passenger to an all-freight aircraft. The aircraft is entering commercial service today, carrying goods from Seattle to the state of Alaska.
