WHPacific’s Alan Quesnel honored as SAME Fellow
(May 9, 2014) – WHPacific is pleased to announce the induction of Alan Quesnel, PE, to the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Academy of Fellows. The award recognizes significant dedication and outstanding service to the organization and to military engineering. Quesnel was honored as a SAME Fellow at the Academy of Fellows Investiture which took place on March 26 in Bethesda, MD.
Since 1996, Quesnel, an electrical engineer, has held positions as a SAME member, post board member, post vice president for two years running, and most recently the 2013 president of the Anchorage Post.
“A Fellow is a person who has devoted a great deal of his or her time and energy to the mission of SAME,” Quesnel said. “This award recognizes members who show extraordinary dedication.”
Quesnel participated in the March 26 ceremony which recognized each inductee by announcing their name and biography followed by the presentation of medallion and plaque. Each local SAME post may send a nomination to SAME’s regional vice presidents for endorsement and then in turn the regional vice presidents submit the nominations to the SAME national headquarters for Fellow consideration. Quesnel was notified by letter from the SAME headquarters last November that he was nominated and approved to be inducted into the SAME Academy of Fellows. The Academy of Fellows formed in 1995 to bring all Fellows together to further SAME’s missions and goals. Today, there are more than 700 members that have been inducted into the Academy of Fellows, representing about three percent of the total SAME membership.
“It was an absolute surprise and pleasure to be recognized,” Quesnel said. “You’re not nominated for an honor like this alone. I couldn’t have done it without the enthusiastic support of many others.”
