Ship Creek Boat Launch Dredging and Pile Repair
The Ship Creek Boat Launch on Anchorage Boat Launch Road will undergo repairs today through Saturday, May 17, 2014. The boat launch is still accessible at high-tide but the Port encourages boaters to use extreme caution when launching.
In order to safely and adequately dredge the launch ramp and repair the damaged piling at the Ship Creek Boat Launch, the contractors will work for three days of negative 3 foot tides or greater to accomplish this work.
The Port Safety Officer Paul Rotkis asks boaters “Please be aware there will be heavy equipment moving in and out of the boat launch area; large pick-up trucks with trailers, bulldozers, forklifts, front-end loaders and other equipment. Therefore, DO NOT walk behind any running vehicle or equipment that is operating there.
The repairs will be completed in two phases:
Dredging: May 15-17, 2014; and
Pile Repair: June 13 through June 17, 2014.
At times, both sides of the boat launch could be closed to stage equipment and vehicles. The designated work area will be cordoned off with yellow caution tape and orange traffic delineators for your safety and the safety of the workers; please be tolerant and do not enter the area. Thank you for your patience, and have a safe, Alaskan summer!” said Rotkis.
