IGU Board Releases 6 Year Plan
Working plan reviews history, current status and path forward for natural gas utility
Fairbanks, AK –The Interior Gas Utility Board of Directors approved the Six Year Plan for the natural gas utility on May 20, 2014.
“The Six Year Plan is a working document that formalizes the direction of the IGU by recognizing the genesis of the project and creates a guide to move forward,” said Bob Shefchik, IGU Board Chair.
The document incorporates 13 sections that review the structure, general overview, previous studies, community benefits and involvement, system design and construction, operations, conversions and financial analysis of the project. It includes graphs and figures relevant to these topics and full color aerial maps of each proposed phase.
“Our team is using the Six Year Plan as a tool to focus on the project, mission, and deliverance of natural gas providing lower energy costs,” said David Prusak, IGU Project Manager. “It is our way to show the community where the IGU has been and where we are going.”
The IGU is guided by the mission of “providing low cost, natural gas to the most people as possible and soon as possible” within Interior Alaska. On December 20, 2013, the IGU was granted a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to serve the area surrounding the City of Fairbanks as a natural gas utility.
