Society of Military Engineers Regional VP Medal awarded to RIM designer

Michelle Gallagher, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD&C, was recognized for her contributions to the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) during the SAME 2013 Pacific and Northwest Joint Engineer Training Symposium (JETS), held this past February in Anchorage. Michelle received the SAME Regional Vice President’s Medal for her outstanding service to the society. Her membership with SAME began in 2005, while pursuing the Anchorage Post’s BG Benjamin B. Tally Scholarship as a student at the School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon. The scholarship supports students in the fields of engineering, architecture, construction, science, and mathematics. After receiving several scholarships from the Anchorage Post, Michelle graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Oregon, and returned to Anchorage to pursue a career in architecture. In 2008, Michelle became an active Young Member in the SAME Anchorage Post, serving on the Scholarship Selection Committee and announcing the scholarship winners at the Annual Banquets. As an upcoming leader in the Anchorage Post, Michelle attended the SAME Post Leaders Workshop in August, 2012 at the SAME National headquarters in Alexandria, VA. This past February, Michelle completed a year of service on the planning committee for the SAME 2013 Pacific and Northwest JETS. The Symposium concluded with the Post’s Annual Banquet, where Michelle was sworn in as the new Junior Vice President of the SAME Anchorage Post. This May, Michelle will attend the National SAME 2013 Joint Engineer Training Conference and Expo through a stipend awarded to her by SAME National. Michelle joined RIM Architects, LLC in 2008 and is an Intern Architect.
