Port MacKenzie Rail Groundbreaking Tuesday 2:15 pm

Tomorrow at Port MacKenzie the Borough and the Alaska Railroad are hosting an event to celebrate the construction of the Port MacKenzie Rail Extension.

If you would like to attend, here's how:
A map is attached that shows Anchorage is 86 miles from the Port, Wasilla is 43 miles, so please allow 2 hours for driving if you are in Anchorage.
When you arrive, drive to the Port terminal. All guests are taking a shuttle bus up to the overlook of the rail loop. It is just 2 miles up the road. The overlook will not allow any cars except the Governors', in order to allow the turnaround of shuttles in the tight space.

3 segments are under construction right now. Construction value is $88 million. Workers: 117
By fall, another segment will be added, bringing workers to nearly 200, and construction value to $113 Million.
This is just this season.
The overall construction project is some $272.5 Million.
