McCool Carlson Green Achieves LEED Gold Certification

Scott Brodt, AIA, of McCool Carlson Green (MCG) partnered in a design-build with UNIT Company and Coffman Engineers. The team recently completed the Company Operations Facility (COF) at Fort Wainwright. MCG’s Jason Gamache, AIA, was the project’s LEED Administrator, responsible for coordinating LEED implementation.

Through careful attention to detail and the implementation of many sustainable features, a LEED Gold certification was achieved. The COF is projected to save over 50% energy cost savings and tested excellent for air leakage. During design phase it was sought to get the leakage rate down, and the post-construction test beat the prescribed design by 37% and is projected to add an additional 10% in energy savings.

McCool Carlson Green is an architecture firm with more than 40 years of Alaskan history specializing in architecture, planning and interiors. This project is MCG’s 5th LEED certified project and 2nd Gold certification.
