Kendrick Lamar and Bret Michaels Confirmed for 2013 Concert Series

Tickets Now On Sale

The final performers have been confirmed for the 2013 AT&T Concert Series at the Alaska State Fair. Tickets are now on sale for rapper and hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar, and iconic rocker Bret Michaels with “The Voice” runner-up Terry McDermott. All shows take place at the Kendall Toyota of Anchorage Borealis Theatre during the 2013 Fair, which runs August 22 – September 2.

Thursday, August 29: Kendrick Lamar. Hailed by Pollstar as “the hottest hip-hop artist in the country,” Compton-raised rapper Kendrick Lamar first stepped into a recording booth at 16 – finding his voice as well as a safe haven from the violence in his neighborhood. His latest album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City, tells his story with songs like “Don’t Kill My Vibe” featuring Jay Z, and “Poetic Justice” featuring Drake. Lamar shared more of his story during a recent Skype chat with Bethel high school students after they won a national education contest. Show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $65 for reserved area. Fair admission additional. Convenience fees apply. Please note there is no seating at this concert.

Sunday, September 1: Bret Michaels, with opening act Terry McDermott. Bret Michaels achieved massive worldwide success as the Poison frontman, as a solo artist and as a reality star. The iconic rocker is the voice of Poison’s #1 hit, “Every Rose has its Thorn,” as well as his #1 solo album, Custom Built. Fans will also know him from NBC’s hit “Celebrity Apprentice” and VH1’s “Rock of Love” and “Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It.” Opening for Michaels is singer-songwriter Terry McDermott, the “shaggy Scottish rocker” who made his mark as the runner-up on NBC’s “The Voice” Season 3. Show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $60 for reserved seating. Fair admission additional. Convenience fees apply.

These performers complete the 2013 AT&T Concert Series line-up, which now features:

Although not part of the AT&T Concert Series, the Fair is also pleased to announce that the Young Dubliners will be performing and the show is FREE with Fair admission. These Celtic rockers get fans on their feet with a fusion of traditional Irish music and modern rock for a unique, high-energy sound. The concert takes place Saturday, August 31 at 5 p.m. at the Woodlot Stage.

Details on the performers are available on the Fair website, blog and Facebook page. Fairgoers can also sign up to receive email or mobile concert updates on the Fair website.
