Dahlstrom Named Executive Director of Serve Alaska
(Anchorage, AK) – Serve Alaska, the state’s service corporation in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service, has selected Alaskan Nancy Dahlstrom as the new Executive Director.
Serve Alaska includes the AmeriCorps programs and its sub-grantees who operate throughout the state with volunteers who help students learn to read, mentor at-risk youth, provide health services, build homes for low-income families, and help nonprofits recruit volunteers.
Recently the director of Governor Sean Parnell’s Anchorage office, Ms. Dahlstrom also served as special assistant on issues pertaining to the Departments of Revenue and Military and Veteran’s Affairs.
“Her involvement with many volunteer organizations, community councils, and statewide suicide prevention makes her experience extremely well suited to the Serve Alaska mission,” said Commissioner Susan Bell. “As a former legislator, Ms. Dahlstrom also has great experience working with a diverse array of constituency groups.”
Serve Alaska’s mission is to foster, support, and promote the ethic of service and volunteerism for all Alaskans. It is one of eight corporate agencies and six core divisions located within the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development.
