Chugach Electric Issues Rolling RFP for Renewables

Chugach Electric Association has issued a Request for Proposals for renewable and zero-carbon energy projects.  The RFP is open during a rolling review period that runs through March 2014.

Chugach is a vertically integrated, Anchorage-based cooperative electric utility.  Chugach owns generation and also buys power from other producers.  Currently Chugach’s generation mix is 88 percent natural-gas-fired, 10 percent hydro and 2 percent wind.  Chugach is seeking projects that will help reduce its reliance on gas-fired generation.  Projects from five to 50 megawatts in size will be considered.

Additional information is available at http://www.chugachelectric.com/inside-chugach/bid-opportunities, or by emailing ron_vecera@chugachelectric.com.

Chugach is the largest electric utility in Alaska, providing power for Alaskans throughout the Railbelt through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales.
