Saturday: Super Sweepers is Back!
Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week will kick off with Super Sweeper Saturday, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at these participating schools.
The Super Sweeper program helps teach school-aged kids the value of a clean city and community service, motivating the rest of Anchorage to participate in Cleanup Week.
Starting at 10 a.m., parents assist their kids in picking up trash around their schools and neighborhoods, returning the full bags of trash to the school before 2 p.m.
Residents can take their filled orange bags from litter cleanup only to their nearest participating school.
Free Dump Days: May 4 and May 11
Once again, thanks to the kind support of the Municipality of Anchorage and Solid Waste Services, Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week will feature Free Dump Days.
Free loads outside of orange bags will only be accepted during Citywide Cleanup Week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 and Saturday, May 11 at the Anchorage Regional Landfill (Hiland Road exit of the Glenn Highway) and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Girdwood Transfer Station (same days).
The Central Transfer Station in Anchorage will be CLOSED to all customers, including orange bags, on both Saturdays due to construction (May 4 and May 11).
Only residential waste is accepted for no fee during the free dump days.
All loads must be secured or covered to prevent littering in transit and must not exceed 1,000 pounds. Uncovered loads will be subject to fines.
Loads must be in a car, an unmodified pickup truck, or a trailer with the load not to exceed the size of a standard pickup bed (8 feet by 5.5 feet by 3 feet high).
No construction or demolition debris, including remodeling waste, decks, or sheds.
Children under the age of 14 must remain in the vehicle.
