Rep. Young Comments on First Highway Bill Conference Meeting
Washington, D.C. – After attending the first formal meeting of House-Senate Conferees for the next Highway Bill, Alaskan Congressman Don Young released the following statement:
“Today’s meeting was a good first step in a process that I am quite familiar with. This Committee has a tough task ahead as we look to craft a multi-year highway bill that not only funds transportation projects, but also cuts red tape and reduces the number of job crushing regulations coming from Washington.
“It’s no wonder this country’s infrastructure continues to crumble when it takes on average, 15 years to complete a single major highway project. As we continue to work on the Conference Committee, I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure we produce a bill that cuts government regulations, puts hardworking Americans back to work and above all, ensures crucial Alaska programs remain fully intact.”
