Public Input Sought on Design for Campbell Creek Estuary

Senator McGuire to join tour and discussion regarding master plan

ANCHORAGE-Senator Lesil McGuire would like to invite members of the media and public to join her for a tour of the Campbell Creek Estuary, followed by a discussion of the master plan for the site.  The tour and discussion will take place on Thursday, May 31st, 2012 starting at 5:30pm in the Bayshore Clubhouse located at 3131 Amber Bay Loop in Anchorage.   Transportation to the estuary and refreshments will be provided.

The Campbell Creek Estuary is a 60-acre area on the coast of Anchorage near Jewel Lake that will soon be turned into a park with walking trails and viewpoints for people to enjoy the wildlife and nature.  The property contains significant wildlife habitat, sensitive wetlands and is protected by a conservation easement.   The state, along with several other generous sources, provided funding to construct a small parking area, a trailhead, and natural trails on the property.

The Anchorage Park Foundation, in conjunction with the Municipality of Anchorage, is sponsoring the tour and discussion in order to gather input from the public to guide the development of the Campbell Creek Estuary in a manner that is sensitive to its location.
