Presentation by Nobel Prize recipient Brian Schmidt at UAA June 11, 2-3:30
A very special event is planned for Monday June 11 from 2:00pm-3:30pm in the UAA Campus Bookstore.
2011 Nobel Prize recipient Brian Schmidt is presenting "Surveying my Life: Journeys from Alaska and the Southern Sky."
Brian Schmidt of the Australian National University's Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics received the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics for "the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the universe through observations of distant supernovae". At this very special event, Brian Schmidt discusses his connections to Alaska, why education is important, and his fascinating research in astronomy. His recent project is to map the southern sky with the use of the SkyMapper survey telescope situated in New South Wales, Australia. This event is free and there is free parking in the South Lot. It will be a lot of fun!
