Good showing for Cook Inlet Lease Sale

(Anchorage, AK) – The Department of Natural Resources announced today that it received a total of 52 bids for 44 tracts totaling over 200,000 acres for tomorrow’s Cook Inlet oil and gas lease sale. That makes this lease sale the 6th largest Cook Inlet sale based on number of tracts, or the 4th largest one based on acreage leased, since the Areawide sale model was implemented in 1999.

Division of Oil and Gas Director William Barron said he is encouraged by the number of bids received, and is looking forward to seeing the identities of the bidders and bid amounts at Wednesday’s bid opening. The deadline for bid withdrawals expired at noon today.

The bid opening will begin Wednesday, May 16, at 9 a.m. at the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center in Anchorage.  Lease sale documents are available at http://dog.dnr.alaska.gov/.
