Free trail-building workshop this Saturday
MAT-SU—This Saturday in Willow a Spring Trail-Building workshop is offered where you learn the basics of design, layout, construction, and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized trails with three hours of classroom instruction followed by hands-on field work. The program is free, hosted by the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Dept. of Community Development. The Borough benefits each summer from volunteer work on Mat-Su trails.
Tools and training materials are provided. Please call to register 745-2856. Bring work boots, gloves, rain gear, lunch, and water. The workshop is this Sat., May 19, from 9 am to 5 pm at the Willow Community Center, taught by Trails Program Coordinator Mark Gronewald. The training day is for individuals and clubs that are interested in developing and maintaining trails in the community for the health and enjoyment of residents and visitors.
A similar workshop was held in Palmer last Sat. May 12.
