District Names Lori Swanson Principal of Two Rivers Elementary
A new face will greet Two Rivers Elementary students when they return to school this fall. The Fairbanks School District is pleased to announce Lori Swanson will serve as the new principal of Two Rivers Elementary at the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
Swanson is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator known for her commitment to professional development and the social and academic development of each of her students. Swanson earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon University in 2001 as well as a Masters in Teacher Education in 2003. She also completed the Initial Administrator Licensure Program at Lewis and Clark College in 2009 and has been a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development since 2008.
Swanson has been a teacher with the district since 2009 and has served in administrative roles at Salcha Elementary, North Pole Middle and University Park Elementary. Prior to her experience in Fairbanks, Swanson taught a variety of grade levels at elementary schools in Alaska, Nevada, and Oregon.
“I am excited to become part of the Two Rivers School community," said Swanson. "I am looking forward to this rewarding opportunity and can't wait to work with the students, their families and the staff.”
Two Rivers Elementary is a rural kindergarten – 8th grade school located on Chena Hot Springs Road. Swanson will replace Dana Evans as principal who will move to Barnette Magnet School at the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
The district congratulates Swanson and welcomes her to her new role at Two Rivers Elementary.
