Construction Displaces FAI Westside Compass Rose

Construction has begun on the Westside Apron Improvements project at FAI. Construction includes expansion of some cargo hardstands to accommodate Design Group VI (747-8, A380) aircraft and replacement of concrete and asphalt in and around the terminal and airfield. Specifically, construction is underway at Gate 1, south of Gate 6, and in the Northwest portion of the airfield.

Please note that due to current construction and lease lot development, the Westside compass rose is permanently being decommissioned. The Airport is searching for an alternative as well continuing to gauge whether a replacement is necessary. For questions on the compass rose, please contact Steve Henry, Airport Engineer, at 474-2500.

Last, the sign located along the construction fence in front of Guardian Flight that denotes the VOR frequency will be moved to Taxiway Bravo.
