Bristol General Contractors awarded JBER contract

Bristol General Contractors, LLC, a member of the Bristol Alliance of Companies (Bristol), was awarded a design build contract on April 30, 2012, to expand the Buckner Physical Fitness Facility located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). The project is part of JBER’s ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life for base residents and visitors.

Bristol Engineering Services Corporation, another Bristol company, will perform all civil design work for the expansion.

The contract, which totals $22,488,948, will add 50,920 square feet to the existing facility, adding a basketball court, indoor running track, a rock climbing wall, and a pool with a slide and wave machine, among other items.

Groundbreaking is set for July, and work is scheduled for completion in Fall 2014. The existing gym will remain open during construction.

The Buckner Physical Fitness Facility is open to all active duty military, family members, retirees, National Guard, reserves, and Department of Defense civilians.

Bristol, an alliance of companies, provides engineering, construction, environmental remediation, fuels systems, and range and unexploded ordnance services to clients around the country from offices in Alaska, Colorado, North Carolina, Texas and Washington. The companies are all wholly owned subsidiaries of the Bristol Bay Native Corporation, a regional Alaska Native Corporation with annual revenues exceeding $1.4 billion.
