June 4             EXCLUSIVE! 19th Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon

Anchorage Marriott Downtown

Anchorage Chamber Military Appreciation Week (June 4 - 8) is designed to give members an opportunity to show their support for service members in the Anchorage area.

The week kicks off with the 19th Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon. All branches of the Armed Forces will be present to be honored with servicemen and women in attendance getting a chance to win door prize packages, donated by Anchorage Chamber businesses.

Lt. Gen. Stephen Hoog, Commander of Alaskan Command, will be this year's keynote speaker.

Cost - $35 per person/ $350 per table. RSVP only.

 

June 11           Anchorage Caucus: Advancing Business?

Anchorage Marriott Downtown

Noon - 1 p.m.

Members of the Anchorage Caucus will review the 27th Alaska State Legislature, look ahead to 2013 and discuss what critical issues still exist with Anchorage's business community.

June 18           Development in the Cook Inlet: The Independents, Part IV

Dena'ina Center, Second Floor

Recent tax credits offered for oil and gas exploration in the Cook Inlet has enticed more and more independent companies to invest in the region.

In part four of our series on Cook Inlet energy, hear from Greg Lalicker, president of Hilcorp Energy, who will give a progress report of the company's activities in the region as well as future plans for development.

June 25           Fire Island Wind Update

Dena'ina Center, Second Floor

CIRI (Cook Inlet Region Inc.) is constructing its $65 million Fire Island Wind Project. It will be Southcentral Alaska's first utility-scale wind farm and is expected to generate some 48,500 MW-hours of power annually for Chugach Electric Association starting this year.

Ethan Schutt, CIRI's senior vice president of land and energy development, will talk about the project's progress and schedule, including construction, installation of an undersea transmission cable to connect the project to Anchorage's power grid, and the anticipated "first power" date when the project will begin providing commercial power.
