Municipality of Anchorage seeks public comments for Peacock Cleaners site clean-upCLEAN-UP PROJECT GETS UNDERWAY SOON
Public comments currently being accepted
The Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) soon will begin to clean up environmental
contamination on the former site of a dry cleaning business (Peacock Cleaners)
located at 4501 Lake Otis Parkway.
The MOA foreclosed and took title of the property for non-payment of taxes, and
a cleanup project is proposed to remediate contamination present on the
property. The lot has been cleared of structures and several levels of
contamination assessment have been completed.
An Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) has been developed for
the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and has been issued for a 30-day
public review period. The ABCA is available to the public for review and is
posted on the MOA's Real Estate Department website:
Comments are due in writing to the
Real Estate Department, P.O. Box 196650,
Anchorage, AK 99519 by close of business on Thurs., June 30, 2011.
