Washington Update | May 13, 2011
Congressman Don Young voted this week in favor of H.R. 1231, the Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act. H.R. 1231 would require the Obama Administration to move forward with offshore lease sales in areas containing the most oil and natural gas. With gas prices at staggering levels, this legislation is a first step in developing more of America's resources. To read more, click here.

Congressman Young presented Sitka with the U.S. Coast Guard Commandant's Proclamation recognizing Sitka as "A Coast Guard City." The Coast Guard recognizes communities that have special efforts to accommodate Coast Guard members and their families. Sitka joined Kodiak as the second Alaskan city to receive this proclamation.
