Begich testifies before Energy Committee on his Arctic OCS Coordinator legislation
U.S. Sen. Mark Begich today appeared before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee giving testimony on his legislation (S.843) the Outer Continental Shelf Permit Processing Coordination Act.
Begich’s bill, creating an Arctic OCS Coordinator to streamline and promote oil and gas development in the Arctic, was one of four energy bills heard before the committee today.
On Saturday, in his weekly address, President Obama said his administration is moving forward on creating a federal office to streamline Arctic OCS permitting, an idea similar to Begich’s legislation.
Sen. Begich today said it’s time to get serious about ramping up domestic oil and gas development in America, particularly with Alaska’s available resources.
