AEA Issues New Energy Statistics ReportISER Document Examines Alaska Electricity
(Anchorage) - The Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) announces the publication of a new report that provides detailed examination of electricity in Alaska as of 2008, the most recent year for which federal statistics are available. The report, Alaska Energy Statistics 1960-2008, was prepared for AEA by the UAA Institute of Social and Economic Research.
The report analyzes the amount of electricity generated by individual utilities, and the type of fuel used for power generation. Information on electric rates and CO2 emission levels is also provided.
A special section presents the first new estimates since 2001 of Alaska's energy balance: how much energy from all sources was produced in Alaska in 2008, how much was exported and imported, and how much was consumed in Alaska, and for what purposes.
The report and the accompanying Data Tables can be viewed at www.iser.uaa.alaska.edu.
Alaska Energy Authority is a public corporation of the state whose mission is to reduce the cost of energy in Alaska.
