Municipality Seeks to Increase Surcharge & Charge Seniors
The Anchorage Symphony strives to keep our subscribers and supporters in the loop when it comes to happenings that affect you!
Below is information about the likely passage of an ordinance that increases the Municipal Surcharge and includes senior citizens - who are currently exempt - and what you can do to voice your opinion.
NOTICE OF CHANGE TO MUNICIPAL SURCHARGE
Currently, ticketbuyers for events held in the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts are charged a $2.50 per ticket/per show surcharge, which is the result of a revenue bond dedicated to Alaska Center for the Performing Arts' roof repair.
The current level of surcharges collected is not covering the bond payments due, so the MOA Finance Department is recommending an ordinance be passed by the Assembly...
HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU
· the ticket surcharge would be increased from $2.50 to $3.00 per seat/per concert.
• seniors (62+) would no longer be exempt from the fee (youth 18 and under would continue to be exempt)
