‘Love Coaches’ Unite

Anchorage - Patti Lafond Miller and Mary Marshall have ‘tied the knot’ so to speak. Lafond is the owner of Meet Me for Lunch, Anchorage’s premiere matchmaking service. Marshall is a professional Date Coach and the author of the self-help book for men, “Charm School for Guys! How to Lose the Fugly and Get Some Snugly”.
The two made their partnership official last month. “This is a perfect match!”, said Lafond. “Mary and I met in 2007 just after I received my certification from the Matchmaking Institute, which happens to be on Fifth Avenue in New York. Ironically, Mary’s book was on display in the window of the Barnes & Noble on Fifth Avenue there. Imagine my surprise when I discovered our Alaska connection! We met, quickly knew we were on the same track, and have worked together regularly ever since.”
Many matchmakers are evolving away from the ‘introductions only’ based dating services and Lafond and Marshall are leading the trend. Recent studies show that clients with access to coaching and feedback are more successful in making healthy, committed connections. “Creating charm and enhancing appeal requires guidance and direction. We provide that for our clients.” stated Lafond.
In their new venture, Lafond and Marshall have shifted the business model of Meet Me for Lunch to include more expanded services for their discriminating clients, as well as date and relationship coaching for non-members. Mary says, “The time between relationships is a great opportunity for re-invention. No matter how emotionally healthy a person may be, when a relationship ends, taking that time for self-evaluation and re-focus will practically guarantee greater success for their next relationship That’s where we come in. We are now as much about shepherding the budding relationships as we are about making the matches.”
As the song says, “love takes time”, and with thirty-four marriages and countless long-term relationships to their credit, Lafond and Marshall are clearly willing to spend the time it takes to create successful matches. And it appears that they are well on the way to their very own happy, long-term business relationship!
