Governor to Sign Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Legislation
May 13, 2010, Anchorage, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell will sign a series of bills related to his domestic violence and sexual assault initiatives on Friday.
Senate Bill 222, sponsored by the governor, establishes stronger penalties for defendants who commit crimes relating to offensive touching, child pornography and victim vulnerability. House Bill 324, also sponsored by the governor, strengthens Alaska's bail statutes. Senate Bill 110, sponsored by Senator Hollis French, sets new standards for evidence retention and improves laws relating to the DNA databank.
