Glen Bobo Joins New York Life Insurance

GLEN BOBO, CLU, ChFC, MSFS, JOINS NEW YORK LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY AS AN AGENT

New Agent is the 2nd Generation in His Family to Serve the Northwest Community

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, May 5, 2010 – Glen Bobo, CLU, ChFC, MSFS, has joined the Alaska General Office of New York Life Insurance Company as an agent for the company. He is the second generation of the Bobo to become a New York Life agent.

Glen’s Father, Jack was a New York Life agent. Jack E. Bobo, CLU, FLMI, has been involved in the life insurance business since the 1950s. Mr. Bobo enjoyed a long and successful career in the field as an agent with New York Life. He was elected president of the National Association of Life Underwriters (NAIFA) for the 1977-78 terms. At the beginning of 1979, Mr. Bobo was named executive vice president of NALU. Under his leadership the organization grew to a peak of over 140,000 members. Jack E. Bobo is a recipient of the prestigious John Newton Russell Award.

The Jack E. Bobo Award of Excellence award is based on the critical components identified as crucial to strengthening the NAIFA Federation and increasing membership. This award has been named in honor of Jack E. Bobo, CLU, FLMI, who proudly served NAIFA as National President and as Executive Vice President.

Glen Bobo began his insurance career as a Field Trainee and Agent with New York Life in Phoenix, Arizona in 1974 after having majored in insurance at Arizona State University. He holds CLU and ChFC designations as well as a Master of Science in Financial Services from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. In 1979 Glen accepted a position with Hafnia Insurance Company in Copenhagen, Denmark, then the largest private multi-line insurer in the country. He returned a year later to be the Training Manager in the Scottsdale GO of New York Life.

In 1987, Glen moved to Reno, Nevada to be part owner and Vice President of ISIS, Inc., a company which was sold to New York Life in 1995. It is now know as the Field Technology Center in Reno. Glen remained in Reno, and with his partner, Vivian Lee founded Estate Design Group, Inc., a consulting firm and boutique insurance agency specializing in estate and corporate insurance planning. In 1998-2000 Glen also served as Project Director of NYLIC's breakthrough Leaders for Life program at the Training Center in Dallas, Texas, personally conducting 54 workshops for NYL agents. He also managed the Prudential Financial office in Reno for a year and a half in 2003-2004.

From 2004 through early 2007, Glen served as Director of Education and Training for Pacific Southwest Financial and Insurance Services, Inc. in Woodland Hills, California. He moved to Alaska in February, 2007, braving the Alcan in winter to serve as Director of Wealth Management for The Wilson Agency, LLC. As Alaska's sole rep for Pacific Southwest Financial, he also worked closely with Financial Advisors at UBS, Wacovia, and Morgan Stanley to implement insurance strategies with their clients.

Glen is single with two children, Lise, 30 in Arizona and Christopher, 19, an honor student at University of Nevada, Reno. He has one grandchild, Collin Christopher Arensberg, 12 months old. An avid outdoorsman, Glen enjoys SCUBA, swimming, tennis, hiking and backbacking, skiing, hunting and fishing, and travel, but also is an avid reader, writer and part-time nerd. A terrible golfer, he also enjoys this game even though it is actually a distraction from what otherwise would have been a really nice walk.

In addition to passable American English, Glen is also bilingual in Danish, conversational in Norweigan, Swedish and German, and also speaks Neanderthal-level Russian and Spanish.
