DOT&PF Builds Replacement Knik River Access

(JUNEAU, Alaska) -The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) announced a new driveway access from the Old Glenn Highway to the Knik River Public Use Area has been constructed.

This access replaces a long-used driveway that was found to cross private property. That driveway was removed from public use when the property changed ownership.

The new entrance is located just south of the driveway it replaces, and provides a route to the north bank of the Knik River and points east, including Jim Creek.

"This has always been an important access point to the Knik River and the public use area," said DOT&PF Commissioner Leo von Scheben. "We were happy to reestablish this access for Alaskans."

"I applaud DOT&PF's work on this project," Governor Sean Parnell said. "This is just one part of our overall effort to protect the right and ability of Alaskans to access public lands and water."
