Community to Spruce up Chinook Elementary School on Saturday

Legislator, teachers, parents and students to plant shrubs and paint school May 15

ANCHORAGE - Chinook Elementary students, parents, and PTA members will roll up their sleeves with local residents and Representative Bob Buch (D-Anchorage) on Saturday, May 15th to spruce up the Chinook Elementary School grounds.

In what promises to be a day of hard work, camaraderie and tangible improvements, participants will plant shrubs and flowers, paint the school sign, and build a raised flower box. After watching former governor Sarah Palin twice veto funds to improve the school grounds, the students and community will be able to take pride in having come together to overcome political roadblocks and get the job done.

The event, dubbed “A New Look for Chinook,” begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 15th and will continue until 2 p.m. at Chinook Elementary School, 3101 W 88th Avenue.  Map.
