Alaska Delegation Announces Grants to Alaska Programs

Washington, D.C. - The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:U.S. Department of Agriculture:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that USDA is providing loan guarantees to 90 businesses in 32 states, the Virgin Islands and the commonwealth of Puerto Rico to provide economic opportunities and create jobs. The funding is made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act). A list of borrowers receiving guaranteed loans in Alaska follows:
- Drennon Construction and Consulting, Inc.; Mt. McKinley Mutual Savings Bank: $600,000 loan.
- FV Redemption; Alaska Pacific Bank: $1,100,000 loan.
U.S. Department of the Treasury:
- $83,031 to the Chugach Regional Resources Commission. Chugach Regional Resources Commission is a sponsoring entity in the process of creating a Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that will provide loans and small business training for the seven Chugach Region Communities of South Central Alaska. Funds will be used to establish the Native CDFI as a stand-alone organization.
- $622,611 to the Cook Inlet Lending Center. Funds will be used to increase lending capital and hire a mortgage associate.
Institute of Museum and Library Sciences:
$61,360 to the Anchorage Museum. Funds will be used by the museum to conduct a conservation survey of the historic objects on exhibit in the Alaska Gallery and to assess the overall physical condition of the collection.
