Seafood Company Earns TSA Nod

Seattle-based Ocean Beauty Seafoods is the first seafood company nationwide to conform to the TSA's new Certified Cargo Screening Program. Ocean Beauty's Cordova facility is the first processing plant to be approved by the TSA in Alaska. The certification ensures Ocean Beauty products meet TSA security requirements as they are transported from processing plant to retailer. Also, obtaining this certification means customer orders won't be required to undergo additional airport screening, which could slow delivery.

"This has been more than two years in the making," said Mark Palmer, Ocean Beauty president and CEO. "We have worked very closely with the TSA to get this program rolling, and this represents a further commitment to bring to market the safest and best quality seafood we can. Under these guidelines we can reduce the amount of time the fish sits in storage, bring the freshest possible fish to market, and know that our shipments are as secure as they possibly can be."

Ocean Beauty operates seven onshore manufacturing plants in Alaska.
