State requests farm, ranch data for Alaska Grown Source Book
Palmer, AK) – The Alaska Division of Agriculture is asking farmers and ranchers statewide to provide their data for inclusion in the 2014-15 Alaska Grown Source Book. The Source Book is the only statewide listing of Alaska farmers and ranchers with products for sale, and it is available online in a searchable format at http://dnr.alaska.gov/ag/sourcebook/index.htm.
Farmers and ranchers can visit the Division of Agriculture website at www.dnr.alaska.gov/ag to provide their data. The Division will collect data through April 15, 2014, after which it anticipates printing at least 5,000 copies of the Source Book for public distribution.
The Division of Agriculture collects data and updates the Source Book every two years. “No one will be automatically included in the book – producers must provide their data. There has been confusion in the past that if you were in a previous version of the book that your information carries forward, but that is not the case,” said Division Director Franci Havemeister.
The 2012-13 version of the Source Book included 225 Alaska producers and the Division hopes for a 20 percent increase in that number this year.
