Interior Gas Utility Revises Board Meeting Schedule
IGU Board will now meet twice a month
Fairbanks, AK – IGU Board Meetings will now be held on the first Tuesday of every month at the Fairbanks City Hall and every third Tuesday of the month for a work session at the Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation.
Since January of 2013, the seven member Board of Directors have met on IGU business every first and third Tuesday for a Board Meeting and every second and fourth Tuesday for a work session. Since the project has moved forward with the hire of a management team, the board unanimously approved amending the meeting schedule from four times per month to twice a month.
“The timing is right and appropriate for the board to begin transitioning from an active working board doing the business of the utility, to a board providing oversight and leadership in the direction of the project,” said Bob Shefchik, IGU Board Chair.
IGU meetings are open to the public. The annual schedule, audio and documents are available on the Fairbanks North Star Borough website, www.fnsb.us. The next meeting is a work session scheduled for March 18, 2014.
The IGU Board is appointed by the FNSB, City of Fairbanks and City of North Pole, and approved by the FNSB Assembly. The IGU operates with support from the FNSB as a separate non-profit public utility.
