Rep. Young Statement on FCC Commissioner McDowell

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Alaskan Congressman Don Young released the following statement regarding the announcement that Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Robert McDowell will leave office in the next few weeks:

“I wish to thank and recognize Commissioner McDowell’s service to this country over the past 7 years.  Originally nominated to the FCC by Senator Ted Stevens, McDowell has been a strong and consistent voice for Alaska on the Commission," Rep. Young said. "More often than not, Alaskan issues do not fit into the same mold that issues in the Lower 48 do.  Commissioner McDowell and his staff have worked hard to ensure that Alaska’s uniqueness was always given extra attention in the Commission’s deliberations, and for that, Alaskans everywhere thank him.”
