Senate Session—Today, Senate Bill 21 passed the Senate by a vote of 11 to 9. SB 21, submitted by Governor Parnell, relates to taxes on oil and gas production.

Senate Military & Veterans’ Affairs Finance Subcommittee—Members conducted a budget closeout.

Senate Education Committee—Members considered SB 57, sponsored by Senator Stevens, which relates to parental involvement in education, pupil transportation funding, and the time required for employers to give tenured teachers notification of their nonretention. SB 57 moved out of committee and is on its way to the Finance Committee.

Members also had confirmation hearings of appointees to the Professional Teaching Practices Commission.

Senate Commerce, Community & Economic Development Finance Subcommittee—Members conducted a budget closeout.

Senate Finance Committee—Members considered SB 22, submitted by Governor Parnell, which relates to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. SB 22 was heard & held.
