Begich Minute: Begich Gears Up for Fur Rondy Weekend, Counts Down the Seconds Until Iditarod Start

U.S. Sen. Mark Begich has been counting down the seconds until he returns home to Alaska today for the start of the 2013 Iditarod, “The Last Great Race.”

This past Wednesday, Begich shot the Begich Minute from his D.C. office where he announced he would be bringing North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkmap to Alaska this weekend to introduce her to some real dog racing and to let her share in the festivities of one of his favorite Alaska events.

Sens. Begich and Heitkamp will be attending the start of the Iditarod in downtown Anchorage at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning to wish the mushers good luck.  Sen. Begich will cut the ribbon that signals the ceremonial start of the race.
