Begich Comments on the Retirement of FCC Chairman
U.S. Senator Mark Begich responded today to news that Chairman of the Federal Communications (FCC) Julius Genachowski is stepping down.
“Today we received confirmation that Julius Genachowski, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, is stepping down. As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, I hosted Mr. Genachowski on a tour of rural Alaska in 2011. I wanted him to see firsthand the unique telecommunications challenges facing our vast state. Although we did not always see eye to eye on the process the FCC implemented to reform the Universal Service Fund, I appreciate his willingness learn more about telecommunications in Alaska. I would like to thank him for his service and I look forward to working with the new Chair of the FCC.”
