Senate Law Finance Subcommittee—Members conducted a FY2014 budget overview.

Senate Court System Finance Subcommittee—Members conducted a FY2014 budget overview.

Senate Finance Committee—Members considered SB 16, sponsored by Senator Giessel, which revises statutes governing architects, engineers, and land surveyors in Alaska (AELS), designating a full-time investigator specifically for the State Board of Registration for AELS. SB 16 was moved out of committee and is on its way to the Rules Committee.
                Members also considered SB 23, submitted by Governor Parnell, which gives the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority the ability to finance a natural gas liquefaction plant and a liquefied natural gas distribution system within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. SB 23 was moved out of committee and is on its way to the Rules Committee.

Members then considered SB 21, submitted by Governor Parnell, which relates to taxes on oil and gas production. Testimony was heard from the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Revenue, Econ One, PFC Energy, independent consultant Roger Marks, and the general public.

8:00 a.m. Joint Legislative Budget & Audit Committee—House Finance 519—Members will conduct an executive session and go through audits of the Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, the Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority, and furniture purchases. 

2:00 p.m. Senate Session

3:00 p.m. Senate Education & Early Development Finance Subcommittee—Senate Finance 532—Members will go over the Digitizing Education in Alaska Initiative with testimony from Mike Hanley, Commissioner of the Department of Education & Early Development, and Carl Rose, Executive Director of the Association of Alaska School Boards.

5:00 p.m. Senate Judiciary Committee—Beltz 105—Members will consider SB 49, sponsored by Senator Coghill, which defines “medically necessary abortion” for the purposes of making payments under Medicaid. Public testimony will be heard.

5:00 p.m. Senate Corrections Finance Subcommittee—Senate Finance 532—Members will conduct a department overview.
