Board of Forestry Meeting & Teleconference Juneau, Alaska


March 31, 2011 and April 1, 2011

(Anchorage, AK) - The Board of Forestry will meet on Thursday and Friday, March 31 and April 1, 2011 beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day in the main Dept. of Environmental Conservation conference room, 410 Willoughby Avenue, Juneau, AK.  The agenda will include reports on:

§ FY12 forestry, forest practices, and monitoring budgets

§ 2011 forestry-related legislation, including HB 91, HB 97, and HB105/SB44

§ 2010 Road Condition Survey

§ 2010 Compliance Monitoring

§ Monitoring of status and trends of fish habitat

§ Tongass Land Management Plan implementation

§ Tongass Futures Roundtable

§ Sealaska land entitlement legislation

§ Mental Health Trust Authority land exchange legislation

§ National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting and forest roads

§ Climate change and carbon sequestration

§ Division of Forestry regional activities

§ State forest planning projects

§ Wood energy in Alaska

§ Invasive species strategic plan and regulations

§ Status of Implementation Group for landslides and mass wasting

§ Agency reports to the Board on Forest Resources & Practices Act effectiveness

§ Opportunities to help forestry in Alaska

§ Certificate of legal timber harvesting

§ Wood supply for Tok biomass combined heat and power project

§ Burn permit regulation amendments

§ Alaska Coastal Management Program update

§ Alaska Coastal Rainforest Center introduction

§ Alaska wildland fire policy

Other forestry matters may be included on the agenda.  The meeting is intended to comply with the requirements of AS 41.17.047(b) and (d).

There will be an opportunity for public comment.  Public comment is scheduled on the draft agenda for Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.  The meeting will be teleconferenced both days in the DNR medium conference room, 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, and the Division of Forestry conference room in the Atwood Building, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 1450, Anchorage.     However, if no member of the public is present at a teleconference location by 9:30 a.m., the teleconference may be terminated.
