Begich Statement on Vote for Continuing Resolution to Avoid Government ShutdownU.S. Sen. Mark Begich today released the following statement after voting with the Senate for a two-week extension of the Continuing Resolution which will fund government operations through March 18:
"While I am pleased we were able to find some consensus and avoid a government shutdown, two-week budgeting is no way to run a country.
"We need to roll up our sleeves and get to work reducing the deficit while investing in our economy and creating jobs. Alaskans want to see results, not political games."
