UAF Accepting 2010 Summer Course Registration
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 30, 2010
Fairbanks, Alaska—Registration is now open for more than 300 summer courses at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning offers high-demand required and elective courses, as well as special-interest classes, at a time when students can enjoy lighter course loads and smaller classes.
The popular MAYmester, which allows students to earn three credits in two weeks, is back with 15 sought-after courses, including core anthropology and economics courses. Classes run May 17-28.
In addition to its on-campus offerings, UAF will offer 17 online courses this summer, including business math and the required library skills class. Students can take online classes from anywhere, as long as they have Internet access. Students taking MAYmester, on-campus and online classes can apply for a tuition waiver.
More than 30 weekend and recreational courses augment the academic offerings. These courses provide students the opportunity to learn a wide variety of skills in the arts, the outdoors and culinary arts. In addition, Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning hosts free lectures, movies and music performances throughout the summer, beginning with a visit from author Eric Schlosser May 27.
Summer courses offer in-state tuition rates for all students, which can save students as much as $990 for a three-credit lower division course.
