To Space…and BackTime Warner Cable Teaches Kids Technological Essentials of the Cable Business as it Continues its Mission to Connect a Million Minds®
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) continued its celebration of Connect a Million Minds Week® with the rollout of its "Cracking the Codes in the Digital World (tm)" curriculum in its operations across the country. After completing the first "Create" hands-on station participants move to the "Transmit" area. "Transmit" teaches students about the radio waves used to carry digital signals over the air and into space. By creating a coding system for transmitting information to a receiving station and increasing their comprehension of geosynchronous orbit, more than 1,500 students participating in the program will gain a deeper understanding of how their favorite television programs reach them, all as part of the company's newly created, signature technology curriculum, "Cracking the Codes in the Digital WorldTM."
"It is easy to forget how technology driven watching television actually is," said Bonnie Hathaway, Vice President, Public Affairs, Time Warner Cable. "For most of us, we simply push a button or two and there are our favorite programs. We want to remind kids that these images don't 'live inside the box,' so to speak."

In addition to understanding how a television signal is transmitted, participants in Cracking the Codes in the Digital WorldTM also will develop a technological understanding of how a cable television signal is created and then received in the home. The program aligns with the company's mission to connect people and businesses with information, entertainment and each other in ways that are simple and easy.
