Sears to Help Alaskans with Disabilities Access Rebates

Sears In-Store Rebate Experts to Answer Questions, Support Customer Demand

WHAT: Sears stores throughout the state of Alaska will be fully staffed to help residents take advantage of the “Cash for Appliances” rebate program and $658,000 in rebates available for ENERGY STAR®-qualified appliances.

Sears Blue Appliance Crew™ rebate experts will also be in stores statewide to assist shoppers with the rebate process. They will help shoppers through the entire process, including:
1.        Identify which appliances qualify for the rebates
2.        Complete the necessary rebate forms
3.        Help customers submit the rebates for purchases made at Sears before they even leave the store

Under the U.S. Department of Energy-approved appliance rebate plan for Alaska, the state program is limited to Alaskans who currently receive some form of disability payment from the state or federal government. Furthermore, participants in Alaska are encouraged to recycle their old appliances and will need to self-certify that the old appliance is being replaced and will be disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal requirements.

As the only retailer to join forces with the Environmental Protection Agency to offer recycling through its Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD The Sears Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) program applies to Sears full line stores.
) program, Sears will remove customers’ old appliances and dispose of them in a responsible manner – reducing emissions of ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases in the environment.

WHEN: Alaska residents who replace an existing appliance with a new ENERGY STAR-qualified appliance purchased on or after March 16, 2010 are eligible to apply for the state rebate. Rebates will be awarded until the funds run out.

WHERE: Sears stores throughout the state of Alaska (To locate the nearest Sears store, visit: www.Sears.com/StoreLocator)

WHO: Local store managers and Sears Blue Appliance Crew rebate experts are available for in-store interviews
